Hi. I’m Gail Fontana.

Here’s a lousy way to start a story: “I woke up one morning and realized….”

Except that’s what really happened.

I woke up and realized that if I wanted to be a published writer (and I do!), I had better focus.

So, this is me focusing.

I hope you’ll come along with me.

While I share my thoughts, my experiences (good, bad and ugly), writing tips I glean along the way, I’d love it if you sent me your thoughts and your stories and dreams, too.

We can cheer each other on and learn how to do this.

Together, we’ll accomplish things!

I write Middle Grade stories that inspire kids to create the life they want through their love of family and belonging.

I live in the Santa Cruz area (California) with my husband and my dog, Dolly.

I love to write, read, walk and bake.

This blog is for aspiring writers, dreamers and doers.

I’ve wanted to write stories since my 7th grade teacher read a story I wrote and made a note at the top in red pen: “This is a great story! Did you write it?”

I didn’t know whether to be insulted or not.

Yes, I’d written it!

Sheesh.

Anyway, since then I’ve been writing here and there, worked for a magazine for a while, wrote freelance articles for a travel magazine, taught creative writing summer camps for kids, and basically danced around my real dream of writing children’s books.

So here I am, ready to get moving.

I have one manuscript completed, queries floating in the internet universe, an inspiring writing group, and a new story plotted and outlined.

Let’s go!
