A Tea Party for Characters from Your Favorite Books
The weather we’ve been having makes me want a cozy tea party.
Who would you invite to a tea party for friends in your favorite novels?
In all the books you’ve read, going all the way back to when you were a kid, what five characters would you want to have at your party?
Here’s my guest list:
Paddington Bear would have to be at my party.
I love his sense of right and wrong and all his stories of mischief.
He’d be very entertaining and polite, too—maybe a bit messy.
Plus, he could bring the marmalade.
By the way, Paddington celebrated his 65th birthday earlier this month.
Harriet the Spy could drop by.
I don’t feel like she’d stay the whole time because she has lots of important things to do.
But I’d like to hear what she’s up to, and I’d like to tell her that she’s the reason I love to write.
When I read her book when I was nine, I was so thrilled by the streets and neighborhoods and characters she created.
I either wanted to be a city planner or a writer.
Scrooge would get an invitation, too.
But it would be the new and improved Scrooge after he was visited by the three ghosts.
I want to see if he managed to keep Christmas in his heart all year long.
Then I’d invite Benedetta Rosetti.
She’s the main character in a Chapter Book series that I’m writing, and I kind of love her.
She’s sassy, but not bratty.
She likes a good party, so she could help me organize it.
And I feel like she’d keep the conversation moving along.
To round out the list, I’d invite Winnie-the-Pooh.
Can you imagine him meeting Paddington?
Cuteness overload.
Plus, honey!
And I’d invite you.
Here’s an invitation for you and for your favorite characters.
Who will you invite?
Have a great week!
