There is so much hope in children’s books.
They should be prescribed by doctors and therapists. (Don’t send hateful comments because mental illness cannot be cured by a children’s book.)
I’m not saying mental illness can be cured by children’s books.
But for anyone who is looking at the world and seeing only darkness…
For anyone who is looking at the world and seeing only destruction…
For anyone who is looking at the world and seeing only division, disruption, disdain, dread, danger, dogma, dreariness, death, despair, dejection, desperation, drama, depression, detachment, desolation…
Take a break from the world that we’re shown on the news and in newspapers and social media.
You don’t have to keep your head in the sand forever.
Just take a break.
Get yourself to the library or a bookstore, find the children’s section, and dive into the stories.
Make sure you’re browsing only children’s books which hundreds of authors and illustrators have painstakingly crafted to inspire hope.
This is what your children, grandchildren, neighborhood children, young family members are reading.
They’re (probably) not watching the news etc.
They’re filling their heads with words of hope.
As should we all.
Enjoy your week.
