In the Mood
Do you live in an area of the world where you get snow this time of year?
Do you love it?
I don’t live in such a place…which is why I’m daydreaming over the three photos below.
I’m not one much for writing exercises, but I could get lost in these pictures, spinning tales in my head about who lives there, walks through there, looks through the windows.
Take a moment to relax and look at these pictures, too.
Daydream, meditate, gather wool, wish.
Even make up stories if you feel like it.
If your imagination needs a little push, say these words out loud like a bit of magic:
Hush.
Secrets.
Dès vu*.
See what your mind conjures.
*Dès vu is a lovely French phrase which means the awareness that this moment will become a memory, according to The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows by John Koenig—a book I very highly recommend.
Until next time,

Fresh snow is truly beautiful.
Hi Sherry. It creates such a magical mood. Of course, I don’t have to live with it. I imagine that people who do would have something to add. 🙂
Really, really like the dictionary you cite. I’m in that club!! 😀
Hello Nancy! That is such a fun book. Gabriella gave it to me for Christmas last year and I just love it!
